No Rules While Motorcycling

I know you are amazed – shocked, even – that I am finally publishing a post.  It’s been a long while, and I apologize.  Maybe I’m turning over a new leaf or something, but I’ve MISSED  you!

We’re approaching Labor Day, y’all.  Do you know what that means?

If you’re a woman, you know what that means.  No more wearing white shoes until next year – on Easter Sunday!

But it’s still so hot!  Why should we stop wearing our favorite summer shoes, just because they’re white?  Because they said so.

That’s right, men.  You have nothing to worry about here, for you have no fashion rules – written or unwritten.  It’s the women that have to worry.  We have many fashion rules that someone decided to enforce.

Women's White Shoes

Who?

They.  Whoever they are.  They made the rules long ago – longer than any of us have been around.  Who knows how long ago?

They expect us to abide by the rules, and most women do – unless you live in Florida.

While living in Florida for a short while, I couldn’t get over seeing women in white shoes (horrors!) in the dead of winter.  Well, not really winter, but it gets cold sometimes in Florida during the winter months, and that’s what is known as winter in Florida.  White shoes and all.  (Gasp.)

It bothers me to see women wearing white shoes in December, y’all.  Our fashion rules are so ingrained in us!

That’s the nice thing about women’s fashions for motorcycle riding.  There are no rules.  You can wear white shoes if you wish – any time of year.  Yes!  Even after Labor Day.  Shocker!

As a matter of fact, you can wear boots, tennis shoes, flip-flops or sandles (although inadvisable), or any footwear you wish while riding a motorcycle.  Nobody cares about your shoes – or fashions in general – for riding enjoyment.

There are opinions, of course.  Some riders believe only in wearing leather, head to toe.  I personally think leather is hot.  Not the good kind of “hot”, but you know – sweaty hot.  Women don’t sweat, y’all.  We glisten!  And, we really don’t like to do that, either.

For footwear, I like boots.  No pedicure required, ladies!  Any time of year, your boots are fine for riding, before or after Labor Day – and whatever color you choose, too.

Need to polish those toenails?  Need to pumas those heels? Put on your boots, girl friend!

Better than that, lotion your feet really well before donning those boots, and you’ll get a free and easy moisturizer treatment to boot along the way.  This post isn’t about beauty tips, but there you have one.  Free of charge.

Since Labor Day is three days away, we women should wear our whites while it’s legal.   Come Sunday morning, I’ll be wearing my white shoes one last time for this year.  How about you?

‘Cause I know who will give a hoot if we wear them after Labor Day……..they will!
